What is semaglutide?

Semaglutide is a synthetic glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist indicated for weight loss management in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise regimen.

How does semaglutide work?

It enhances insulin secretion when there is an elevation of glucose, suppresses glucagon secretion, and decreases gastric emptying, which decreases appetite and decreases A1c.

How often do I need the injections?

Patients should start with a once-a-week injection until they reach their goal weight, then they can follow up with maintenance injections.

What are the side effects?

Some side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, decrease in appetite, indigestion, bloating, GERD, dizziness, and/or constipation.

How much does it cost?
